Our Educational Ethos
Hickory Dickory Dock Day Nursery has a Child-Centred approach to Early Years education. This helps your Child to develop creativity, individuality, and self-confidence. Our Staff skilfully foster each child’s skills as effective learners in readiness for moving on within the nursery or to school. We follow the “early years foundation stage” guidelines (EYFS) . This framework sets out the learning and development stages for children as they move from Birth to Five years. The Majority of School Nurseries will follow exactly the same Guidelines but we have Higher Staff ratios and a smaller more homely environment which may suit some children better.
We have a great relationship with Heronswood School where our older children attend Story-time, assembly's and special events. We find this is a gentle, age appropriate introduction to the rough and tumble of school life. We also have access to Heronswood’s Forest school and staff and children enjoy walking to the Spennells Nature trail.
